Despues de pasar unos dias sin hacer mucho en Luang Nam Tha, nos apuntamos a hacer un trekking (excursion) de 3 dias en el parque nacional Nham Ha. Salimos el dia 14 a las 7 de la manana hasta el pueblo de salida. De ahi empezamos el primer dia de la excursion que pasando por tres poblados de tribus, 2 cuevas (Una de ellas llamada la cueva del hombre de la cabernas... ya vereis porque...) y un rato por la carretera del parque nos llevo hasta un poblado Kamhu. Ahi pasamos la primera noche durmiendo en la casa del jefe del poblado, cenando y bebiendo whisky de arroz con la gente de la tribu que consiguieron ensenarnos algunas palabras, hacernos cantar canciones y vestirnos a Siri y a mi para una boda tradicional!! Madrugamos para empezar el segundo dia del trek que, despues de 6 horas de trekking por la jungla y un banito en un rio, nos llevo a lo alto de una montana hasta el poblado Akha donde pasamos la segunda noche. Este poblado fue menos amistoso, era obio que vivian mucho mas aislados. Aun asi descubrimos bastante sobre su forma de vida y hasta tubimos un masaje tradicional por las ninas del poblado. El tercer y ultimo dia caminamos la ruta mas dura y complicada de la excursion, arriba y abajo tooodo el tiempo... asi que despues de las 6 horas de camino todos estabamos muy contentos de haber terminado.Al contrario de lo que pensabamos el trekking no consistio en andar y observar el paisaje. Mas bien en andar y mirar el suelo para no pegarnos una nata... aparte de que la jungla no ofrecia muy buenas panoramicas! El objetivo principal era experimentar el estilo de vida de las tribus de las montanas (Hill tribes como las llaman aqui). Fue sorpredente pasar unas noches con ellos y nos sirvio para descubrir lo distintios (y precarios) que son los estilos de vida de algunas culturas que viven en el mismo siglo que nosotros. Fue muy interesante conocer mejor su forma de vida, aunque muy chocante en mucho aspectos. El diferente valor que daban a conceptos como la higiene o la diferencia entre hombres y mujeres, nos llego a escandalizar o repugnar, pero con la suficientes reflexiones no parecia tan distante o distinto de lo que imagino vivieron nuestros antepasados (los de hace 400 o 500 anos... jaja).
No me puedo olbidar del equipo! De derecha a izquierda: Lauren and Jason (Una pareja genial de rockstars australianos), Yo y Siri, Alex (Un australiano muy bien informado y majo tambien...), Helen (sueca muy maja) y los guias, Mr. Hong Tong (De lo mejor del trekking..) y... El Otro... no hablaba mucho pero era buena gente!
After some days of doing absolutly nothing in Luang Nam Tha, we signed up for a three day trek in the Nham Ha National protected area. We left the 14th at 7 in the morning to the starting town. From there we started our first trekking day, we pased three tibe villages, two caves (one of them called the Caveman cave... you'll see why!) and after walking a couple hours on the park road we arrived to the Kamhu village. There we spent the first night sleeping in the Chiefs hut, dinning and drinking rice whisky with the local. They managed to learn us some words, make us sing and dress Siri and I up for a traditional wedding... We got up early for the second day and treked more seriously trough the jungle for about 6 hours, took a bath in a creek and got to a mountain top to the Akha village where we spent the second night. The locals weren't as friendly here, we could tell they were more isolated. Even that we got to know alot about their way of living and even had a traditional massage form the town girls. The third and last day was quite rough, the route was a little bit too much, up and down all the time... so after 6 hours of walking we all were pretty happy it was over!
Oposite from what we expected the trekking wasn't about walking an checkinh out the views. It was more walking a staring at the ground not to fall over... plus the jungle didn't really offer any awsome landscapes! The main objective was to experience the hill tribes lifestyle. It was amazing to spend a couple of nights with them and it showed us how different (and .......) can some peoples culture be, even if they live in the same century as us. It was interesting to understand their culture a little better, even it was hard to face sometimes. For them concepts like hygine or equalty betwen man and woman lack of the values we give them, and that shocked and disgusted us, but it also didn't seem that far from what I imagine our ancestors might have lived like (the ones 400 or 500 years ago...)
